MUMBAI: A celebration of television's finest. That was Indiantelevision.com's The Sangini Indian Telly Awards 2004, held last night to a full house at the Chitrakut Grounds in Mumbai's western suburb of Mumbai.

The best of talent from India's television industry came together to celebrate excellence in their respective fields in what has become the annual high point of the television industry's events calendar.

The evening crackled with anticipation, excitement and delight, as several heart-stopping acts interspersed the actual ceremony of presentation of the much-awaited awards.

But the night clearly belonged to two people --- Mona Singh aka Jasmeet Walia of Sony Entertainment Television India's Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin and Rajiv Khandelwal aka Sujal of
Star Plus' Kahiin To Hoga.

Jassi won the Best Television Personality (Female) trophy as well as for Best Actor of the Year (Female).

Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin also won one of the big awards of the night of Best TV Programme of the Year. Trophies were handed out to the show's producers DJ's Creative Unit as well as the channel SET.

Khandelwal won awards in the best Best Debutante (Male) and Best Television Personality (Male). The other awards that tied in to Kahiin To Hoga were the Sangini TV Couple of the Year Award which went to the lead pair of the hit serial --- Khandelwal and Aamna Shariff.

The Balaji Telefilms produced Kahiin to Hoga also took home the Best Daily Serial as well as the Best Ensemble of the year prizes.

Star India's Peter Mukerjea was adjudged CEO of the year for the fourth year running while Balaji Telefilms took the honours for the TV Production House of the Year award. There were no surprises in the choice of Entertainment Channel of the Year either with Star Plus the winner again.

Anchor of the Year, meanwhile went to Shekhar Suman for Carrry On Shekhar - SAB TV while News Anchor of the Year was won by Rajdeep Sardesai NDTV.

Indiantelevision.com and The Indian Telly Awards Founder Anil Wanvari drew the attention of the audience to the fact that the television industry is far bigger in size than the much touted film industry. "The fantastic response from industry clearly shows that The Sangini Indian Telly Awards are the the industry's awards.
